Why Choose FKM Plumbing for Tankless Water Heater Replacement in San Diego, CA?
A tankless heater is only as good as its gas supply and venting. We measure both before we quote, so your new unit fires at full output instead of cutting out on high demand.
- Space Saving, Their compact design lets tankless units fit in smaller spaces, freeing up valuable room in your utility closet or garage.
- Clean Venting, We route venting to meet manufacturer clearances from windows, doors and roof edges.
- Longer Lifespan, Tankless water heaters usually last longer than conventional tank units, often up to 20 years with proper maintenance, offering better long-term value.
Citywide Coverage
We understand the demands of San Diego homes and are equipped to handle tankless water heater replacements efficiently. Residents across the entire area have access to our expert plumbing services.
Experienced Team
Our technicians have pulled and replaced tankless units from Rinnai, Navien, Noritz, Takagi and Rheem, so they know the quirks of each brand's error codes and mounting brackets. They also know which older units can be matched to existing venting and which need new runs.
Safety-First Approach
Tankless heaters burn a lot of gas at full fire, so we pressure test gas connections and verify meter capacity before lighting the unit. Venting is installed and sealed to keep carbon monoxide from entering living space.

Commercial Tankless Replacement in San Diego
Restaurants, salons and small offices often use multiple tankless units linked together on a rack system. When one or more units fail, we replace them and rebalance the cascade controls so they share the load. We check gas pressure under full demand, since commercial racks can draw more than 600,000 BTU combined. Scheduling is easy to work around, so we can work after hours and keep your business open. We also set up a descaling schedule suited to your water usage.

Exterior Mount Tankless Units in San Diego, CA
Many homes have tankless heaters mounted on an exterior wall with no venting at all, since the unit exhausts directly outside. These units face sun, rain and temperature swings, which can break down plastic covers and wiring over time. Freezing pipes are rare in most of Southern California, and many homes have exposed outdoor plumbing that would never pass in a colder climate. When we replace them, we check the pipe cover, freeze protection settings and the electrical connection. We can add a protective pipe cover kit to shield the water and gas lines. Exterior models are often the simplest swap when the gas line is already sized correctly.
Condensing Tankless Replacement in San Diego
Condensing tankless units like the Navien NPE series or Rinnai Sensei reach efficiencies above 90 percent by capturing heat from exhaust gases. They vent through inexpensive PVC and produce acidic condensate that must be neutralized and drained properly. We install a neutralizer cartridge and route the condensate line to an approved drain. Hot inland summers push water heaters and pool plumbing hard, while coastal salt air can corrode exposed metal fittings. Condensing units still save gas because they work year-round on showers, laundry and dishes. We explain the cost difference so you can decide if the efficiency gain is worth the price.
Emergency Tankless Replacement in San Diego, CA
A tankless heater that leaks from the heat exchanger or refuses to ignite can leave you with no hot water at all. We offer same-day emergency replacement for common models and can usually get a unit installed the day you call. If your exact model is not in stock, we can sometimes do a temporary repair to restore hot water while the replacement ships. We shut off gas and water to stop any leak on arrival. Call (213) 871-0701 any time your tankless quits.
Electric Tankless Water Heater Replacement in San Diego, CA
For properties without natural gas access or those looking for an all-electric solution, electric tankless water heaters are a practical choice. FKM Plumbing offers electric tankless water heater replacement services in San Diego, CA. This often involves careful assessment of your home's electrical panel capacity, as these units require significant amperage. We make sure your new electric tankless unit is installed safely and effectively, providing on-demand hot water without the need for gas lines.

Hard water shortens the life of tankless units, valves, and appliances, which is why many homes in Southern California add softeners or scale filters. Scale builds inside tankless heat exchangers over time, so a correctly sized replacement with flush valves protects homes in San Diego, CA from early failures.
